A Good Diet Can Help Prevent Uterine Fibroids

A Good Diet Can Help Prevent Uterine Fibroids

The formation of uterine fibroids is associated with long-term excessive estrogen stimulation. Animal studies have shown that high-fat foods promote the production and release of certain hormones, resulting in a significantly higher incidence of uterine fibroids among obese women. Therefore, developing healthy eating habits can help inhibit the development of fibroids.

  1. Eat at regular times and avoid overeating.
  2. Stick to a low-fat diet: consume more lean meat, eggs, green vegetables and fruits.
  3. Eat plenty of whole grains such as corn and beans.
  4. Regularly eat nutritious nuts, such as peanuts, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds.
  5. Avoid spicy foods, alcoholic drinks and icy or cold foods.

Dietary Recommendations for Women with Uterine Fibroids

  1. Keep your diet light. Avoid “trigger foods” including mutton, shrimp, crab, eel, salted fish and snakehead fish.
  2. Do not eat irritants such as chili, Sichuan pepper, raw onion, raw garlic or alcohol.
  3. Avoid heaty, blood-stagnating or hormone-containing foods such as longan, red dates, donkey-hide gelatin and royal jelly.
  4. Eat more lean meat, chicken, eggs, quail eggs, crucian carp, soft-shell turtle, white fish, cabbage, asparagus, celery, spinach, cucumber, winter melon, shiitake mushrooms, kelp, seaweed and fresh fruits.
